Cross Lake Programs
Portage Construction at Cross Lake: Manitoba Hydro employs local workers to inspect and maintain a network of 19 portages located on waterways throughout the Cross Lake Resource Area.
Dock Installation at Cross Lake: Each year Manitoba Hydro provides support for dock installation in the spring, repair and maintenance as required during the summer, removal in the fall and storage throughout the winter.
School Hot Lunch Program at Cross Lake: Over 1 000 students are served daily under the hot lunch program.
Cross Lake Domestic Fishing Program: The program is managed locally and hires local fishers to acquire as much fish for domestic purposes as the community can consume.
Cross Lake Gardening: This program has created gardens in about 100 locations in the Cross Lake Community (several small greenhouses have also been provided).
Safe Ice Trail Patrol at Cross Lake: A network of 32 safe ice trails and a safe ice bridge provides over 400 kms of marked trails in the Resource Area. Snowmobile patrols regularly travel these trails.
